Second top price of the day was given for Rathconville Eugene by Rocky, sold for 17,000gns to Ronick. Also doing well was Rocky's 22,000gns son Guards Boomer who sired Rathconville Equator sold for 10,000gns. And a daughter of Rocky, Sarkley Veleta, was dam of Homebyres Ernest sold for 12,000gns. Whether you AI to Rocky, or use his sons or daughters to breed, Rocky continues to make his mark. NEWS: Carlisle May 2010 - congratulations to Mr Lawson for Windsole Elph, overall Champion at Carlisle and sold for 11,000gns. NEWS: Carlisle May 2009 - congratulations to David and Maggie Kelly of Nether Hall, who took their first limmy bull to Carlisle and sold it for 11,000gns - a Rocky son! NEWS: As we predicted last year, Rocky did again top the BLCS calf registration table for 2008. NEWS: Rocky is top limousin AI sire! BLCS figures released summer 2008 show that Rocky was the top sire of pedigree registered limousin sired in 2007. And given that we sold even more doses of Rocky semen in 2007 than in 2006, perhaps we can expect him to top the chart again for 2008 registrations! NEWS: At Carlisle on Saturday 16th February 2007 came a 22,000gns call for Messrs Little's reserve intermediate champion Guards Boomer. Sired by Rocky, this one sold to Messrs Brown, Northern Ireland. NEWS: A baby with a bright future stole the show on Craven Champions Day, the annual show and sale of commercial store cattle with future show potential at Skipton Auction Mart. The six-month-old home-bred Limousin-cross heifer from Dalesman Chris Akrigg, of Manor Farm, Cray, was first chosen as champion in the halter-led classes before going on to take the overall supreme championship in the hands of Mr Akrigg’s son Tom. By the renowned Irish Limousin sire Rocky, out of a Limousin-cross dam, the victor went on to impress in the ring when sold for the show-topping price of £1680 to Steven Swales, of York. NEWS: Sarkley sale 25th January 2008 Rocky sired heifers sell up to 9,000gns and average 4533gns and Rocky sires bull calves average 3,100gns. NEWS: Sarkley sale 6th July 2007: Rocky sired heifers sell for 10,500gns; 8,500gns, 7,200gns etc and average 5511gns for 9 sold. Semen still only £15 per straw. (NO ROYALTY, no delivery charges). Rocky is a very muscly limousin bull. He shot into the public eye in December 2004 when his son, Sarkley Valiant topped Chris Pennie's annual production sale at 7100gns at just 7 months old. In May 2006 the first two senior bulls by Rocky to be sold in Carlisle sold for 14,000gns amd 13,000gns. Also in May 2006 a son of Rocky was top price at Dungannon, selling for 5,200gns. At the Irish Premier sale in March 2007 a Rocky daughter was female champion and sold for 6,600 euros and aRocky son sold for 7,600 Euros to a UK buyer Rocky produces top quality pedigree and commercial calves in Southern Ireland, and his offspring possess and exceptional easy fleshing and natural width.
