Silver Prometheus was purchased privately for £10,000, as a calf. He was an amazing creature, bred from generations of quality stock at the Harman's, the second Charolais herd established in the UK. His maternal granddam was Chesham Farandole, dam of Silver Joss, sold for 30,000gns. His maternal grandsire was Maerdy Grimaldi, sire of numerous champions and high priced bulls at Perth. Unfortunately Prometheus was terminally injured at less than 18 months old. When his carcase was hanging in the abattoir it was nearly condemned because it was so long that they were unable to hang it off the floor! Our first calf by Prometheus was Rumsden Solitaire, who was a heifer's calf. She won every time out as a yearling except standing second at the Royal, and won two breed championships at less than 18 months old. As a two year old she was unbeaten, and was Reserve Female Champion at the Royal Show. We also won the junior 2 year old heifer class at the same Royal Show with Rumsden Silver who was by Silver Mephisto, the sire of Prometheus.

Our first bull by Prometheus sold for 3,000gns.
