The Royal Smithfield Show

We have shown at Smithfield four times. In 1998 we were second with Rumsden Nessie (dam of Eat my Shortts) and third with purebred steer Rumsden Napier. In 2002 we were second with Barney, a charolais cross steer sired by Doonally New, and Reserve Supreme Steer Champion with Eat My Shortts, winning the Kings Cup In 2004 we were Angus Champion with Cruz Missile, Reserve for the Queens Cup and part of the Duke of Norfolk Trophy winning team. We also had champion BB sired steer with Black Thunder. In 2006 we took 3 homebred charolais cross cattle sired by Farleycopse Telemarque. We had 2 2nd prizes and a fourth, and were in the final of the Kings Cup with the champion exhibitor bred steer in the middle weighte steer section.

The National Primestock Show

In 2003 we exhibited at The National Primestock Show for the first time. We were very impressed with the organisation of the event, and delighted with our results. We were charolais champion with Rumsden Twilight, 3rd with a limousin cross suckled calf, and Reserve Champion Piedmontese sired with a steer purchased from John Lampshire, Hartfield.

The South Eastern Primestock Winter Fayre

This Show takes place in the Abergavenny Building at the South of England Showground in Ardingly, West Sussex. It is a lovely show, and we usually support this show with a big team of fatstockers. In 2005 we had our best yet, winning supreme with Lisduff Lad, and all 5 cattle won 1st and Champion or Reserve champion! In 2004 it was held on Tuesday 23rd November, just over a week before Smithfield. We had 1st prizes with Cruz Missile, Black Thunder and Santa, and two Reserve Championships. However, the next two years we donimated the event, winning supreme champion with Lisduff Lad in 2005 and Supreme Champion with homebred charolais cross heifer Henna, by Telemarque.

Local Market Shows

In 2003 we entered two of the local market Christmas Shows for the first time. We were Reserve Steer Champion at Hailsham Market with Cormac, a lim cross steer. He weighed 610 Kgs and sold for £1.35/Kg = £823.50. We had two other entries at Halsham, Black Hawk and Kylie who both won their classes. Kylie has been retained for breeding. At Ashford we were steer champion with a bullock owned in partnership with Dermot Small from Northern Ireland, bred in Scotland by Hugh and Lynne Dunlop. Ace of Spades went on to sell for £1097.25 (£2 per kg lwt).

In 2004 we had Steer Champion and Reserve Supreme at Hailsham with Uberto which sold for £1.65/Kg (932.25).

In 2005 we won Steer and Supreme champion at Hailsham with homebred Jaberwocky, which sold for £1362.50. We took 4 beasts, getting 3 firsts and a second (to ourselves!)

In 2006 we did Maidstone, and were Reserve Supreme Champion with Gossamer sold for £2.295/kg (£1365.53).

In 2007 we did Maidstone again with team of young charolais crosses and natives. We had best native, and had the best prices excepting the supreme champion.

Summer Shows

In 2003 we had butcher's champion at Heathfield Show with Kylie, a charolais cross heifer, and Reserve Champion in the commercial section at Edenbridge Show with Rumsden Twilight. In 2005 we had steer champion at Kent County with Lisduff Lad.
